Nigerian bar association 

The Nation reports on the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association that took place in Nigeria last week. Vice president Richard Atkinson attended and was part of a panel discussing what will successful law firms look like in the future.
 

Cybersecurity in law firms

Vigilance Security Magazine reports on the need for the government to introduce swift regulations for cybersecurity. According to the Law Society, 65% of law firms have been victims of cyber incidents, highlighting the industry’s susceptibility to cyber security risks.

Criminal legal aid

Gazette reports that a judge-led board set up to advise the lord chancellor on criminal legal aid will present its recommendations shortly, the new chair of the Criminal Bar Association has revealed.

Will writing

Indi Blog Hub gives advice on writing your will and mentions that the solicitor should be qualified, has experience in will writing and is member of professional bodies such as the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) or the Law Society.

Powers of intervention

Australasian Lawyer and Canadian Lawyer cover a case involving the Law Society’s powers of intervention (Anal Sheikh v The Law Society of England and Wales & Ors case) as a High Court judge tells a former solicitor to accept the Law Society’s decision-making.
